'Slànachadh' considers the past, present and future of womens' movements in the outdoors. We reflect on the differences in the ways that women have interacted with their surroundings. It begins with women who moved with the seasons and worked the land in shieling times, over 100 years ago. Following this we note the way in which we now seek to escape our daily routines to lose ourselves in nature.
Finally we consider how future generations may come to appreciate the role we play in the interwoven web of animals, humans and our environment. The passage of time and the evolution of attitudes towards our surroundings is conveyed in Scottish Gaelic, which serves as a reminder of changing traditions and the loss of certain aspects of culture and connection to land.

Shortlisted in the BMC Women in Adventure category at the Kendal Mountain Film Festival 2023.
This film follows our co-founder Ailsa decided to embark on the Salomon Ultra (52km) in Fort William. This was in the middle of The Alba Cross: a cycling journey across Scotland, on limited training - because why not!? Here's how it went down!

This short film created by Molly-May Shelton (film-maker and Activist) follows our day on the John Muir Trust Quinag site, learning the basics of navigation through map and compass skills.
We joined a walk and activity session led by Romany Garnett (Conservation Officer for Quinag and Sandwood) and Lynn Munro (Seasonal Ranger for Sandwood) from The John mUir Trust where we developed our understanding of map reading and taking compass bearings.
We had great chats about the importance of navigation and the freedom and confidence that this can give people to access the outdoors, especially as women.

We were invited to come and speak about the Alba Cross expedition on the Patagonia Base Camp stage at the Kendal Mountain Film Festival in 2023. It was a wonderful opportunity to reminisce and share some of the highlights of the trip.
As part of the festival, our film ‘Slànachadh’ was fortunate to be shortlisted in the BMC Women in Adventure category. Click the link below to check it out!
In an episode of our podcast, we speak to Lee Craigie, Active Travel Commissioner for Scotland and Director of the Adventure Syndicate, about personal limits of sport, what adventure means to us and Lee Craigie's personal journey in adventuring through some pretty epic challenges!
Ailsa Beck speaks on the Spinning Stories podcast about their experiences as gravel and ultra distance bike racer so far, and the lead up to the GBDURO 2024 (a 2000km self-supported bikepacking enduro from Land's End to John O'Groats).
They talk about intersectional feminism in the world of cycling, as well as their relationship to sustainability and climate grief.
